“The older I get: the faster the days go by.” This statement graced the lips of my Grand-parents, my Parents and now mine. As I write this, we are 15 days past Halloween and 13 days before Thanksgiving. If you are planning to eat the Thanksgiving Meal with the church, that is only 5 days away. In fact, some of you will be receiving this newsletter on that very day. Don’t miss the opportunity to give thanks before the Day is history. Furthermore, don’t limit your thanks-giving to just one day.
The elders at FCC have been involved in a series of training sessions led by Doug Harvey and others from DHF. So far, the main theme of sessions dealing with duties of an Elder, prayer, and church leadership and the duties of an elder have centered around improving the relationship with God through Jesus. This should not be a shock to anyone reading this note, because the guiding concept for every one of Pastor Michael’s messages is exactly that. In fact, even our prayers should include praise and thanksgiving on at least equal footing to requests for help or some item(s) that we think we need. Let’s give thanks in preparation for the season of giving that is to come.
Respectfully,
David Bishop
They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the
sons of mankind! For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And He has
filled the hungry soul with what is good. (Psalm 107:8-9; NASB)
