Encourage

    Dear Church Family,

We had been putting off this day for a while.  It is funny how some of those tasks that we know can be bearish have a tendency to make their way to the very bottom of our daily to-do lists.  This task was definitely one of them.   It was a long run of conduit at the new administration building that needed an additional wire installed. The task had been staring at us for nearly a week, but the time had finally come that it had to be completed.

With hopeful countenance, we began to run the snake on its long journey.  The first three-quarters of the journey gave us reason for optimism, and then it all came to a stop.  We hit a snag.

For nearly an hour we attempted all the tricks that the three of us knew to fish the tool to its destination.  We were a mere two feet from completion when it seemed that we simply were going to have to find an alternative plan.  I felt an urging to exhort the team not to give up, that we were just about there.

We all took a breath, shook ourselves (and the conduit) and made another attempt. The wire fish found its way past the snag and we were able to finish the task.

Had we not encouraged ourselves and been willing to receive encouragement, we would not have been successful.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. ESV

2 Chronicles 15:7 But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded. ESV

We are in a time when we must strive to not only encourage those around us, but also be willing to be encouraged. I pray that we will all take some time to consider those around us and how we may be instruments of encouragement. May we also work diligently to be open to the encouragement of others around us.

    Loving you all,

    Michael
