Our Comfort Zone

09.23.25 | Elder's Corner | by Steve Tharp

    Church Family,

I’ve been called to write something for our newsletter. Thirty seven years as an over the road truck driver did not prepare me for this! I’m out of my comfort zone which is the second pew in the back by the north door! I am two years and seven months into my first elder term and have certainly grown my faith and grown in my walk with Jesus.

Jesus used regular people to serve in His ministry, fisherman to tax collector, and He can use you as well! Jesus tells His disciples in Mark 10:42-45 “You know that the rulers in this world Lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

If the Nominating Committee approaches you this fall then prayerfully consider serving in one of the many offices. If leadership isn’t in your comfort zone then consider helping in the kitchen or in the new building construction. Thanks to all those already serving! P.S. One man can’t do it all!
