Spiritual Harvest

09.24.24 | Michael's Corner | by Michael Ten Eyck

    Dear Church Family,

As the harvest season begins in our area, it’s a powerful reminder of both the blessings and the work God calls us to. Just as farmers gather in the fruits of their labor, we too are called to prepare for a spiritual harvest, working together to advance God’s kingdom. Jesus reminds us in John 4:35, “Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” - ESV Our work isn’t finished; in fact, the season of growth in our hearts and in our church is just beginning.

This time of year, we see neighbors working side by side in the fields. It’s a picture of how the body of Christ is meant to function—each of us with different gifts and roles, yet united in purpose. Paul encourages us in 1 Corinthians 3:9, “For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” - ESV Whether planting seeds of faith in our families, reaching out to those in need, or growing deeper in our own spiritual walk, we all have a part in the work of the Lord.

But we are not just workers; we are also worshipers. As Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” -ESV Let us remember that while we labor for the Lord, we are also called to gather and worship together, giving thanks for His provision. Worship renews our strength and focuses our hearts on God’s glory, reminding us that the harvest is not ours, but His.

We invite you to come together in both work and worship at our special Vesper service on October 6th at the Tate farm. It will be a time of fellowship, food, and song as we reflect on God’s goodness and prepare our hearts for the harvest ahead. Let’s come together as a church family, eager to see what God will do through our united efforts.

May the Lord of the harvest bless our hands and hearts as we work and worship together this season!

    Loving you all,
    Michael
