Thank you to all who helped make the youth@first Valentine dinner another huge success! It was a wonderful evening with great food and even greater fellowship! It is a wonderful opportunity for the youth to serve the congregation and to work with each other in the set up and the serving. We included the Jr High youth this year and they did great! Since so many of their projects and events are done together Chaz wanted to include them and it worked beautifully! They all looked so sharp and we are very proud of them. It was also great to see all their families working together with them and behind the scenes both on Thursday and Sunday.
A special thank you goes to Betty Hayden who headed up this project in the kitchen with Yvonne Stauffer and Sandy Wigington's assistance. Yvonne also makes the sweet breads and everyone looks forward to them. Yvonne has worked on the Valentine dinner since it was started 20+ years ago when her children were in high school and has helped with every one since. Betty started out helping her and then accepting the lead on the project. Thank you, ladies!
We want to thank the parents who came one or both days to support their kids and this ministry. Proverbs 22: 6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Thank you, parents, for seeing the importance of Christian Education in your children's lives and providing transportation to get them here every week! We value the trust you place in us and we look forward to partnering with you to keep that going during the week.
Also, a big thank you to Michael Ten Eyck, Bobby Smith, and Michael Smith for cutting the steaks, Joyce Lemons and Cindi Schoenherr for washing table cloths, the Dad's that stood out in the cold for hours cooking the meat - Michael Ten Eyck, Gary Mendenhall, and Scott Palmer, Cindi Schoenherr for her amazing talents with all of the decorations and for making the name tags and menus, and Chaz and Kate Waterman, Matt Sealock, Wayne Chamberlain, and Kayla Boren for their leadership with the kids and their assistance with the dinner. We have great youth leaders and we are grateful for all of them!! We could not have done it without all of you!
I would also like to thank the congregation for always supporting the youth in all they do. You are the best! We are grateful to have such a loving and supporting church family.
God Bless you all!!
