As I open my eyes each morning, I’m thankful I wake up to live another day. I think I’m more aware now of this gift we tend to take for granted, as the years march on. In other words, I’m OLD! So most always, my first thought upon waking is “thank you, God, for giving me another day!” I am blessed!
But often, even in retirement, as the day’s events unfold, I find myself facing a little stress, worry, uncertainty and question my ability to accomplish certain tasks that face me.
Then I proceed to try and control my anxiety and “fix it” on my own! Problems then have a tendency to escalate. Sadly when all else fails, I turn to God. Reality check! Therein lies the problem! I need to rely on God first to replace my doubts, frustrations and fears with His peace, confidence and guidance. All we need do is ask for His help and guidance.
He’s always there for us in any situation, at all times. With a simple prayer, as I turn to Him, God’s love, comfort, and promise of eternal salvation fill me and then I wonder why I didn’t talk to God in the first place! He has all the answers!
As the old hymns say, “take it to the Lord in prayer.” “Don’t forget to pray.” Lay your weaknesses and burdens at the feet of Jesus, trusting and knowing that God is in control. He won’t give us anything we cannot handle, the scriptures tell us.
As I Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” PRAY WITHOUT CEASING! It’s a life changer!!
